Soft washing vs pressure washing: what’s the difference?

Key takeaways

Soft washing uses cleaner, not force, to remove growth.

Pressure washing suits hard surfaces like concrete.

The wrong method can strip paint or damage render.

Both methods use water, but they work in very different ways. Picking the right one is the difference between a clean wall and a damaged one.

Soft washing

A soft wash applies a biodegradable cleaner at low pressure. The cleaner does the work, breaking down algae, mould and lichen so they rinse away gently. It’s the safe choice for render, painted siding and roofs.

Pressure washing

High pressure is great for hard, durable surfaces: concrete driveways, paths and some stone. It lifts oil, tyre marks and ground-in dirt that a soft wash won’t touch.

On a wall, pressure is a blunt tool. On a driveway, it’s exactly what you need.

Which one does your home need?

Most homes need both: soft washing for the house and roof, pressure washing for the ground. We’ll always tell you which we’re using and why.
